Thrush Hunting in Tunisia

Both authentic and modern, rich in its culture, its traditions, its nature, its mild climate and its picturesque landscapes, Tunisia is a warm tourist destination for those seeking escape to the sun and nature.

Hunting in Tunisia is regulated. It concerns resident hunters and hunters of foreign nationality who must stay in Tunisia for a minimum period of three consecutive days.

Formalities

The authorized means of hunting are: Shotgun, dogs and birds of prey trained to capture game (with the obtaining of a special hunting license). No one can hunt outside the legal opening period for hunting throughout Tunisian territory.

Non-resident hunters can only engage in hunting through a Tunisian travel agency. A tourist hunting license will be issued.

The license is valid for a single stay of a maximum duration of 3-6 consecutive days. Beyond 3-6 days, the possession of a new tourist hunting license is mandatory.

To be provided 30 days before the departure date:

  • Photocopy of the first 3 pages of the valid passport.
  • Hunter: surname, first name, date of birth, profession, nationality, address, passport number and date of issue.
  • Photocopy of the hunting license.
  • 4 passport photos.
  • Rifle: Brand, Number, Calibre and Number of shots.
  • Accompanying person: Surname, First name, Date and Place of birth, Passport number, and Date of issue and Address.

Restrictions:

  • Each hunter has the right to only one weapon according to Tunisian law.
  • Rifled barrels and self-reloading rifles are prohibited.
  • No more than three strokes.
  • Shotgun blasting and steel pellets are prohibited.
  • The import of 50 cartridges for wild boar hunting and 350 for thrush hunting is the number tolerated per hunter.
  • The shooting of Woodcock, stags and deer is strictly prohibited under penalty of legal proceedings.
  • Hunting in snowy weather is prohibited.

Calendar:

  • Wild boar: From October to the end of January.
  • Thrush: December 6 – March 8.

1st day of hunting

2nd day of hunting

Day 4

3rd day of hunting

Day 5

Transfer to Tunis-Carthage airport.

Note:

Each day, the group hunts in a new territory.
Departure of the hunting teams are daily between 04:00 – 06:00, depending on the hunting location.
Post hunt.
The hunting grounds are 10 – 120 kilometers away.
Transport by off-road vehicle.
Lunch at the hunting grounds.
Hunting is natural. Results cannot be guaranteed.
